There is no shortage of publications and internet websites exploring every facet of philatelic study, not to mention countless buying opportunities via dealer’s websites: we are solely concerned with stamps as an investment.

Investing in stamps and postal history is a subject of mild controversy with many collectors holding the belief that stamps should be primarily for collecting and not used as an investment vehicle. Likewise, market commentators are right to point out the potential risks involved in investing in a market where the aspiring purchaser may have little or no knowledge of the items being bought.

Our view is that the market ultimately self-regulates: speculators will, in time, move on to alternative investment products if they do not see the returns envisaged and prices will continue to be driven by market demand.
